ROUSH® Propane F-150 Hauls Loads of Cash in Addition to Regular Payload
LIVONIA, Mich. – Fleet owners that put the 2008 ROUSH® F-150 Liquid Propane Injection pickup into service will find the bed useful for hauling a different type of cargo than anticipated - the barrels of cash that could be received through tax credits via the utilization of propane as an alternate fuel. ROUSH® has long been considered as Detroit's foremost Tier 1 advanced powertrain engineering company and the perfect candidate to develop a viable propane-powered vehicle.

The first credit is part of the 2005 Energy Bill which provides the purchaser of an alternative fuel vehicle a credit on the incremental cost of such a vehicle (incremental cost is defined as the price of the alternative fuel vehicle over the cost of a similar petroleum-powered vehicle).
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has established a cap on the maximum amount that can be credited based on the type, weight, and emissions of the vehicle. The ROUSH® F-150 Liquid Propane Injection pickup qualifies for a maximum allowable credit of $2,500.
Additionally, and perhaps even more important to fleet operators who meet the qualifications, is a 50 cent per gallon credit on the propane used to power motor vehicles such as the ROUSH® F-150 Liquid Propane Injection truck. Obviously, there are restrictions set by the IRS, and as with all tax ramifications it is advisable to research your specific needs and how the rules will affect your fleet business.
The ROUSH® F-150 Liquid Propane Injection truck is designed and manufactured to operate solely on propane while providing the same horsepower, torque and drivability of an F-150 equipped with a gasoline-powered 5.4-liter, 3-valve TritonTM V-8 engine.ROUSH® has begun taking orders for the propane-powered F-150. The 2008 model year truck can be ordered, delivered and serviced through a nationwide network of select Ford dealers. The ROUSH® F-150 is available in Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew cab styles with XL, XLT, STX, & FX4 trim and all three different bed lengths. The liquid propane injection system option includes dedicated propane fuel lines, fuel rail assembly and fuel tank. Additionally, the vehicle's computer has been re-calibrated to provide optimum performance and fuel economy. When used as a vehicle fuel, propane offers an extremely low carbon footprint. According to research provided by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), propane's emissions have lower carbon content than gasoline, diesel, heavy fuel oil, and ethanol (commonly known as E85). Even when upstream emissions - those released as a result of extracting and processing energy - are factored into the equation, propane is still one of the best fuel options from a greenhouse gas (GHG) perspective. The exhaust emitted from a properly maintained propane-fueled engine contains virtually no toxic compounds. And because the boiling point is 44 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, propane vaporizes almost instantly when released into the atmosphere. It degrades rapidly when exposed to the light, and no contamination will result from spills or leaks. Essentially, when released outside an enclosure, liquid propane can cause no ill effects.Additionally, propane does not have the contaminants of some other fuels like diesel and has less criteria pollutants across many applications. Propane's portability, storability, and environmental benefits also qualify it to serve the unique needs of several applications, such as fueling a fleet of pickup trucks.Based in Livonia, Mich., "The Art of Performance Engineering" takes place at ROUSH® Performance. To get a look behind the scenes at what goes on at ROUSH® and how the vehicles are designed, manufactured and produced logon to www.ROUSHtv.com. In addition to the Stage 1TM, Stage 2TM and Stage 3TM Ford Mustang and F-150 styling, handling and performance upgrades, a complete line of performance parts and crate engines are offered.
